Are you an international student studying for a master’s or doctoral degree in Taiwan? For exceptional students, the Chung Hwa Rotary Educational Foundation Academic Scholarship provides a special chance to get funding for their further education. The goal of this program is to promote academic excellence while reducing the cost of graduate school.
The scholarship program, which has its roots in the Rotary spirit of service, promotes education, research, and innovation while fostering international friendship and cross-cultural understanding. By empowering future leaders and scholars, the Foundation aspires to foster international collaboration and goodwill.
For the 2025–2026 academic year, master’s and doctoral students studying at universities in Taiwan can apply through their University’s Office of International Affairs. Successful candidates will receive generous financial aid to cover tuition, books, accommodation, and living expenses, allowing them to focus fully on their studies and research.

Scholarship Benefits
The scholarship program provides the following benefits:
- NT$180,000 per year for doctoral candidates
- NT$135,000 per year for master’s students

Eligibility Criteria
Who can apply for the Chung Hwa Rotary Educational Foundation Academic Scholarship?
- Applicants must be international graduate students enrolled at a Taiwanese university.
- Applicants must be under 35 years of age at the time of application
- Must apply through the University’s Office of International Affairs (direct submissions to the Foundation will not be accepted)
- Applicants who are Rotarians, direct descendants of Rotarians, or Rotaractors are not eligible
- Cannot receive another scholarship during the award period
Required Documents
Applicants must prepare and submit the following application-required documents:
- Two completed scholarship application forms (with headshots)
- Essays:
- Autobiography (max two pages)
- Statement of intent (max three pages)
- List of interests, activities, public speaking, and community service experience (max 1 page)
- Recommendation letter from an academic instructor/advisor
- Recommendation letter from the Office of International Affairs
- Academic transcripts
- Additional documents:
- Enrollment certificate or valid student ID
- Copy of passport and visa/ARC
- Two headshots (within one year)
- Research proposal (signed by thesis advisor)
- Budget proposal
