In 2026, bachelor’s degrees in the arts, humanities, and social sciences at the University of Queensland will be eligible for the Hugh Brandon Scholarship. The deadline for submitting your application is April 30, 2026. This scholarship, which has a maximum partial grant of AUD 6,000, is offered by the University of Queensland (UQ). The scholarship was established in memory of Hugh Earle Brandon, BMus, LRAM, FTCL, and AASA, with contributions from friends, colleagues, and former students. From 1945 until 1973, Hugh Brandon (1906–1984) was employed at the University of Queensland. From 1955 until 1966, he was the first Head of the Department of Music. In 1970, he was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Music.
