The Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds (BIF) offers two to three-and-a-half-year PhD scholarships to outstanding young scientists worldwide who wish to work on a demanding PhD thesis in basic biomedical research in a top-notch facility. During the peer-review selection process, the scientific caliber of the project and the host laboratory are evaluated along with the candidate’s accomplishments. Fellowships are awarded to less than 10% of applicants, which makes the process quite challenging. We offer our fellows a worldwide network of fellows and graduates, individual and personal support, seminars, and travel expenses in addition to their monthly income.
