The 2025 Westpac Future Leaders Scholarship is available for master’s and doctoral degrees in any field of study.
The deadline for submitting your application is August 27, 2025. This scholarship is being offered by the Westpac Bicentennial Foundation and has a maximum full funding value of AUD 120,000. Applications for this scholarship are open to all Australian citizens.

Westpac Future Leaders Scholarships, 2025 are open to candidates with the potential to make a difference to Australia’s future in one of our three focus areas:
- Sustainability, technology, and innovation
- Strengthening Australia-Asia ties
- Enabling positive social change
The scholarship is worth up to AUD 120,000 towards research/coursework studies for about 2-3 years duration.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents.
- Applicants must complete their first undergraduate degree by 31 December 2025.
- Applicants must have achieved an average result of H1 or H2A equivalent or approx 75 WAM.
- Applicants must have chosen to undertake a full-time Master’s by coursework or research or a PhD at one of the participating university partners.
- Applicants must commence study in 2026.
- Applicants must study in an area that will contribute to the future of Australia in one of the Trust’s priority funding areas.
- Applicants must be able to attend the National Selection Panel to be held in Sydney on 3-4 December 2025.
- Be able to attend the Future Leaders Scholars Leadership Development Program in Sydney in mid-February and another date, to be confirmed, in August/September 2026.
- Applicants must be able to attend the Westpac Scholars Summit in late March 2026.
The scholarship’s value
Up to AUD 120,000 is given to the chosen applicants to help with living and education costs.
How to Apply:
Along with their completed application, all qualified applicants must finish an online test that is delivered to the host university.
Two letters of recommendation should be included with the application.
The candidates will be shortlisted by the university’s selection panel.
A National Selection Panel will conduct interviews with finalists at the National Assessment Centre in Sydney.
