The fully funded MEXT Scholarship of Japan covers the following expenses:
An allowance of around 143000 yen per month for living expenses (for students enrolled in preparatory programs and non-regular students), 144K yen for master’s degree students, and 145K yen for PhD students (roughly $1000)
A extra regional stipend of 2,000 or 3,000 yen will be added to the monthly scholarship amount for grantees who are studying or conducting research in locations that have been officially defined.

To be considered for the MEXT scholarship program, applicants must:

They must also be sufficiently motivated and dedicated to uphold the Afghan-Japanese alliance.
Depending on the language of teaching, be proficient in either written and spoken English or Japanese.
Successful candidates will need to travel to Japan in April 2026.
